The Temple Bar traders association has created a project where all the traffic signal boxes will be covered with work from various artists. According to this clip on RTE it’s all thanks to people tagging the boxes. So if it wasn’t for graffiti the boxes would still look dull and grey. Most of the art work is shit so I’d love to see the entries that didn’t make the grade. Read more from the traders association here.

Issue 16 of Swindle magazine has a feature on Conor Harrington AKA Mr. Who from Cork. Now although this lot claim to be “at the forefront of the global street art scene” they still make the mistake of calling him a landmark London artist. I suppose he does live there, but still…
Anyway the magazine is in shops now. They don’t have that or the CEPT article online, but you can read the one on EINE.

The BTP really went to town on London’s DPM crew. Here’s the BTP press release.
“Nine vandals have pleaded guilty to one of the largest graffiti conspiracies ever brought to trial.”
Someone’s set up a facebook group to raise awareness of their plight. And an article from The Times.
…although they did use the tried and tested “writing’s on the wall” again. Here’s another article about KONK in the paper.
I saw a KING KONK piece down off Thomas St there the other week (in that disused yard behind the Digital Hub). Presumably a play on words rather than a statement on his position in the hierarchy, as it were. Anyway, best of luck to the lad in his next court appearance.

“A man who dressed up as Darth Vader and attacked the founder of Britain’s first Jedi church was spared jail today.
Twenty seven year old Arwel Wynne Hughes, who has a chronic alcohol problem, jumped over a garden wall in Holyhead and launched the assault on the Star Wars obsessives while they filmed a documentary to promote their Jedi Church - which was formed last year.
Hughes who was drunk at the time bellowed “Darth Vader” as he hit Barney Jones over the head with a crutch and punched his cousin Michael in the thigh on March 25th.
Hughes was sentenced to two months in jail suspended for one year at the local Magistrates court today.”

…thanks to that saucy sex pest Adrian Kennedy and his band of cuntish cohorts, who featured Eiresol Style on his esteemed FM104 Phoneshow last night. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve ran that topic on the Phoneshow either. I might have the recording from 1998/99 around here somewhere.
A copy of last night’s show is making it way to Eiresol Towers at this very moment, so we can only speculate on the credibility of the “debate” for now, but would assume it lives up to their usual eh, high standards.

A major bone of contention in the European graffiti scene since the late 1990’s; Here’s an article on why there are two completely different companies both selling paint under the name Montana.
Spanish all the way…
