Iz the Wiz, RIP
eiresol | June 19, 2009Just heard that Iz the Wiz passed away on Wednesday. After being rushed to the hospital he died of heart failure.
One of the true kings of New York City graffiti in the 1970’s and 80’s, and without question one of NYC’s most prolific writers, he will be missed.
I remember reading of him having serious kidney failure in the early 90’s which was presumed to have been brought on by spray paint fumes, before the days of led-free paint. It seems this was the start of a long period of ill health.
Rest in peace…
